I
I was once like you
So Careful
Of everything you say
Everything you do...
Yeah.
I was once like you....

It was a battle
Remembering
I wasn't with her
but him, he not she
I was living a life
that would never
be me....

Yeah...
I was just like
you...

Whispering in the dark
Holding her in the
shadows, begging
baby, please don't tell...
They just won't understand...

Yeah...
That was me
too...

I came out so hard
There are still
Rainbow Skidmarks
on the walls
The echoes of my
Screams...
reverberating
down the halls
I can't live that
Way any more
I won't live my life
Hiding behind that
Closet Door...

That's not me
Anymore...

I cry at how
hard you try to
hide your heart
your love so deep
inside...
You're living a lie...

I can't live that
Way
Anymore...

It breaks my heart
That you are afraid
to be free...
Afraid that others
won't accept your
sexuality....

That's not
Me
Anymore....

I'll be here
To hold your
hand if you want
to step out
and explore this
land you don't know...

Cause I long
for the day
That you finally
Say....
That's not me....
Any....more....
Stuck in my head...needs some work....

THis was very moving. I sensed a great deal of compassion in it.

I think the flow could be smoother. Other than that I think this is a well-constructed poem, with good use of repetition and imagery (I liked the rainbow skidmarks!). Overall, nice work :)
